Meet
Giancarlo
Brotto.

I help people make sense of AI and decide what to do next.

Former math teacher. Global advisor to leaders in education, business, and government. A speaker who makes the room part of the conversation.

The experience behind the work

From the classroom to global conversations about change.

I have taught students, supported families and educators, advised school and government leaders, and worked with executives across technology and other sectors. Today I bring those perspectives into keynotes, workshops, and advisory work that help people make thoughtful, practical decisions about AI.

EducatorTaught high school math at one of Ontario’s first one-to-one digital schools and helped teach statistics at the University of Toronto.
School systemsHelped educators, school leaders, and government officials make the transition to digital learning.
AdvisorAdvised CEOs and senior leaders at SMART Technologies and Foxconn. Today, I support solopreneurs and small and medium businesses in manufacturing, law, architecture and design, technology, real estate, and other fields.
FounderCo-founded Catalyst to bring international leaders and senior government officials together around enduring challenges; founded PaveEDU to help people and organizations navigate AI and create meaningful change.

Relevant to your audience

Four settings. One purpose.

Experience with schools, families, workplaces, and communities—all here on one page.

I designed and taught curriculum for library visits, helping classes make the most of a single internet-connected computer as they learned to use the internet and explore its possibilities. Later, I developed and taught mathematics at one of Ontario’s first fully digital high schools, where every student had a laptop. I then supported school boards as they transitioned to digital learning and advised governments and education systems internationally.

Today: I help school communities build AI literacy, strengthen teaching practice, and plan for AI across leadership and assessment.

Keynotes, workshops, and strategic guidance for educators, system leaders, and AI task forces.

I struggled to find my footing as a child moving between languages and school systems. As a parent of three—one in elementary school, one in high school, and one at university—I want young people to have learning experiences that work for them. During COVID, I created the framework and guides for an engaging, interactive online school and enrolled all three of my children. Now I’m building the programs and support I want my children—and young people everywhere—to have as they grow up with AI.

Today: I’m building programs to help young people develop judgment, agency, and useful AI skills—capabilities that help them stand out and give them a real advantage as they learn, create, and prepare for the future.

Sessions for young people, parents, and youth groups, plus support for organizations building AI literacy programs.

As Global Education Advisor at SMART Technologies, I advised the CEO and senior leaders on innovation across product, research and development, marketing, and sales. I also advised leaders at Foxconn and education technology companies, from startups to global firms.

Today: I support solopreneurs and small and medium businesses across a range of fields, including manufacturing, law, architecture and design, technology, and real estate.

Explore workplace talks

Practical sessions for leaders and teams, plus advisory support for AI task forces.

My Catholic faith shapes how I think about dignity, responsibility, and the common good. I help community groups talk about AI in everyday life, and can draw explicitly on Catholic teaching in faith settings.

Today: I help communities make practical choices about AI that shape our shared future. In Catholic settings, I translate Vatican guidance into everyday action.

PaveEDU: Create a new path. Make it easy for others to follow.

The person behind the work

I learned to build a new path because I needed one.

Growing up, I moved between Italian, Spanish, French, and English, and struggled at school. Later I studied pure mathematics, the subject I had once disliked most, and became a math teacher. It convinced me that more learners could succeed if we changed the path in front of them.

I helped design lessons for a school's first Internet-connected computer, taught in an early digital high school, and worked with schools adapting to new technology. Those experiences taught me that a tool alone does not change learning. People need support, practice, and a way to see what is working.

“Create a new path, then make it easier for others to follow.”

That idea became PaveEDU. It guides how I help people make thoughtful choices as AI changes the way we learn and work.

What your audience can expect

A session people take part in, not just listen to.

I use the science of learning to help people surface their assumptions, test ideas, and explore new possibilities in real time—through both thought and action, grounded in their own context. They leave with a practical next step and a memorable experience that stays with them long after the session ends.
